NEW YORK MILLS, Minn. Aug. 16, 2018 - You may find "man" in the word "manufacturing," but at Brunswick Boat Group's New York Mills operation, where they manufacture Lund and Crestliner boats, they are reaching out to more women to join the ranks on the shop floor.

Just about everyone who has ever thought of buying one of these vessels has researched these two brands, and probably wavered over which one to buy. Lund and Crestliner are both quality boats with some good features and if you like carpet and drink holders and other creature comforts they certainly give you some things that Duroboat does not. Both of those brands and several other aluminum boats are made by one parent company. The Boat Group makes Sea Ray, Bayliner and Meridian pleasure boats; Boston Whaler offshore fishing boats; and Crestliner, Cypress Cay, Harris (formerly FloteBote), Lowe, Lund, Princecraft fishing, deck and pontoon boats. Brunswick is one of the largest boat makers by units in Europe, with Quicksilver, Uttern and Valiant boat brands.

What happened is that in 2004, Lund and Crestliner were sold by Genmar Corporation to the Brunswick Boat Group. Genmar used to let its boat brands operate as autonomous businesses, so Lund would pick on Crestliner, Larson would roll it eyes at Glastron, and it was all OK. At Brunswick, criticizing sister brands is apparently bad form.

I looked at the Crestliner Canadian, Alumacraft Camp Boat, Lund Outfitter, and Lund Alaskan. The thing that ended up selling me on Lund was the Sport Track accessory system - no more drilling holes to mount rod holders, cup holders, and all of that - and complete flexibility to put them where you want them when you want them there - like when you want Lunds are too pricey IMO, but their beauty is not skin deep and they hold their value better than any other aluminum boat. The Alumacrafts have a great rep and some nice layouts - they look like a good choice/ I own a Crestliner and love it.

I was between the same 2 brands when I was looking and had my mind set on a crestliner sportfish but everywhere I priced was about exact opposite of what has been said. The crestliner was around 15k higher than the lund I found. It was new last spring Is there really a difference in Lund and Crestliner any more?
